I signed up mostly to build out my family tree, that part has been more annoying than I expected. Adding people is fine at the beginning, but once you need to edit details or fix something you entered wrong, it starts feeling way more complicated than it should. The whole thing has kind of a clunky, unfinished feel to it.
The hints are also inconsistent, so I never fully trusted them without double-checking everything. Some of the records are genuinely useful, but moving around the tree and managing updates just didn’t feel smooth to me. It’s not awful, but for the price and the overall vibe, I don’t think it’s worth keeping right now.

I signed up hoping I’d be able to dig up more info on my family in Europe and Canada, but the results were underwhelming.
The UK records seemed decent enough, but once I started looking outside the UK, it got really patchy. Some places barely had anything useful, and a lot of the hints felt like the same stuff being shown again and again. Come on now, if you’re advertising broader family history research, I expect a bit more than that.

For the price, I was expecting much better international coverage. It might be fine if most of your research is UK-based, but for what I needed, it just didn’t really deliver.

I was frustrated when I noticed I’d been charged the wrong amount, but thankfully they sorted it out without too much hassle. The refund came through quicker than I expected, so I felt a lot better about it in the end.

Cancelling wasn’t exactly straightforward either. I had to click around more than I expected, and it felt like the option wasn’t nowhere easy to find. It’s a decent service overall, but that whole renewal and cancellation bit left me annoyed.

I reached out to support twice because I needed help with an issue, but I still haven’t gotten a clear answer. From my experience, the product might be fine, but when something goes wrong, waiting this long for support makes it frustrating to use

I’ve had a good experience using Findmypast for parish records. I managed to find a few baptism records that I couldn’t track down anywhere else, which gave me a lot more confidence in the information I was adding to my family tree. It’s not perfect, and some areas still seem a bit patchy, but overall it’s been a reliable resource that I’d feel comfortable recommending to others doing genealogy research.

Overall it works fine, but I’ve noticed the scans can look blurry sometimes. I’m guessing it depends on the lighting or how steady the camera is, but clearer images would definitely make it better.

I’m usually patient with search tools because I do a lot of digging around for records, but this site really tested me. The filters didn’t seem to narrow things down in any useful way, and the sorting felt completely inconsistent. I’d search for something specific and still end up with a bunch of random results that didn’t match. Then I’d change the sort order and everything felt shuffled again. As someone who actually needs to find information quickly, this was just frustrating and not worth the time

I found so much on my family in England and Ireland, more than I thought I would. It was really easy to use too, and they had loads that helped me piece things together.

I didn’t expect to find as much as I did on Findmypast. I searched for my great grandad and managed to find his army service papers and even a medal record quickly. A few of the scans were a bit tricky to make out, but that’s probably just the age of the documents. I asked support about it and they basically said some originals are clearer than others, which made sense. Overall, I was really pleased with what I found.

I enjoyed the records and didn’t really have any issues with that part. The only thing is, I didn’t realize what the renewal was going to cost until the charge showed up. Maybe I missed it somewhere, but it definitely didn’t feel super upfront.
